Zach Haskell
Zachary Haskell is a passionate guitarist, composer, and musical educator. He has dedicated his life to musical performance and pedagogy.
He attended Berklee College of Music where he received the John LaPorta scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in guitar performance. In the early years of his playing, the energetic sounds of BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn fueled his passion for the guitar. This strong blues foundation led him to the world of jazz, where he discovered the magic of Stan Getz, Miles Davis, and John Scofield. While at Berklee, he cultivated a unique voice, drawing from the wisdom of David Tronzo, Freddie Bryant, and Julien Kasper. He has performed with a wide variety of musical lineups, including a Brazilian jazz ensemble directed by Fernando Brandao, Berklee’s Cuban Traditional and Folkloric ensemble, and several RnB bands.
As a teacher, Zach creates a lasting musical foundation for students. He encourages them to pursue the music that moves them while facilitating their ability to read traditionally notated music. Through a balance of critical listening, ear training, and sight reading, he reveals the theory behind his student’s favorite songs, setting them up to learn on their own, while also preparing them to create their own music.
