Zach Larson, a cellist and tubaist, completed his education at the Boston University School of Music. He earned his Performance Diploma in 2023 and his BM in Cello Performance in 2019. Under the guidance of esteemed cellist Michael Reynolds, a member of the Muir String Quartet, Zach held prominent positions in various ensembles at BU. He served as principal cellist in the Boston University Symphony Orchestra's performance of Mahler's "Resurrection" symphony at Boston Symphony Hall in April 2023. Alongside his studies at BU, Zach pursued a Master of Arts degree at the University of Central Florida in 2021. He was a Graduate Assistant and a member of the newly formed UCF Pegasus String Quartet.

Having grown up in the scenic Black Hills of South Dakota, Zach developed a deep connection to music from an early age. He began playing the tuba and cello while in grade school and has maintained his passion for both instruments ever since. During high school, he co-founded the Quartz Quartet and attended the Interlochen Arts Camp and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. His proficiency on both instruments has earned him the reputation of being a "double threat" among his peers. In addition to his cello expertise, Zach holds a BM in Tuba Performance from BU, where he studied with Mike Roylance, Principal Tubist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Zach's talent on both the cello and tuba has allowed him the privilege of performing in renowned concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Vienna's Musikverein, and Amsterdam's Concertgebouw. His captivating performances have taken him across the United States, South America, and Europe.

In addition to his active performance career, Zach has a strong commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists. Whether through his involvement with the Boston Youth Symphony's ICP program or the Chamber Music Festival of The Black Hills, he has consistently striven to create a learning environment characterized by discipline, legacy, enjoyment, and above all, a sincere curiosity.

Zach has received instruction from notable cello teachers such as Michael Reynolds, David Bjella, Sarah Freiburg, and Jurgen de Lemos. Furthermore, he has had the opportunity to work with esteemed artists including the Dover String Quartet, Benjamin Zander, Zuill Bailey, Melissa Kraut, Mihail Jojatu, and Peter Zazofsky.
